[There's an immediate silence; he starts to say something but shuts his jaw as he lowers his head enough to let the bangs cover his eyes.]

[She's quiet as she waits for him to finish his sentence. No getting out of talking about this one.]

[He takes a deep breath to calm himself, though it only works somewhat as he looks at her again.]

[At the word "friend", he looks unsure. He opens his mouth and starts off the beginning of the word "companion", but even that didn't seem to fit her, so he doesn't finish it.]
